Product Focus: France
Our tours that include France will really expand your horizons on cooking. You will never go to the market again without having thoughts of which mushroom or butter would be best for your own recipe.
A mushroom hunting pig! This is no joke.
Mushrooms are used in the culinary creations of the French, and the king of all mushrooms is the truffle. As it grows underground, farmers have used pigs to seek out these gold nuggets of the earth. Truffles sell for hundreds and sometimes thousands of dollars per pound.
Chocolate also comes in many French recipes. A true chef knows the varieties of chocolate and what best highlights the flavors.
And although wine is made around the world, the French claim to be the ones who made it the “nectar of the Gods” with careful blending and aging. And wine is not only destined to be enjoyed sip by sip in the proper glass, but also as a critical ingredient in their cooking. It is imperative to understand the pairing of the wine for the menu whether as an ingredient or a beverage.
Mary Kay has always tried to convince me that Vitamin C meant chocolate, and that Vitamin B was butter. We’ll it tastes good, and I don’t wish to upset my chef, so I just enjoy. And with the French again, there are many choices of butter. It seems that every region has their own method and secret ingredient to make their butter “the best” and suitable for their style of cooking.
